Three short documentaries brought together in a single film: Fayalobi, Het bloed dat door mij stroomt and A Strey fu a Sranantongo. Three personal documentaries about heritage, family and language that show how identity is forged from the stories, memories and traditions passed down from generation to generation.
Fayalobi: two grandmothers look back on their lives before and after Surinamese independence, whilst their granddaughters explore the legacy of strength, struggle and hope they carry within them.
Het bloed dat door mij stroomt: a portrait of filmmaker Shellen Arga and her quest to discover her Javanese roots, as well as the influence of her mother and grandmother on her own identity.
A Strey fu a Sranantongo focuses on the history of Sranantongo, revealing how a once-oppressed vernacular grew to become a powerful symbol of connection, identity and self-determination.
